My titles undergraduate project is an erosion effects on NPS 8” carbon steel pipe. The main objective of this study is to analyze the effect of vertical jetting of water sand jetting on erosion of NPS 8’ carbon steel in sand water (slurry) system at various separation distances. The erosion rate is strongly affected by many parameters such as a velocity of particles (sand), nature of slurry (particles for example sand with water) flow, nature of target material as well as separation distances between jetting source and NPS 8’ carbon pipe as a target material. Varies in the separation distance of impacted by particles could give the different rate of erosion. Natural gas pipeline is typically placed at 300 mm distance from other utility pipeline especially water pipeline. This is normal practice for separation distance when a natural gas pipe buried with other utility pipe where it was placed parallel to each other in same trench.
It is about a real cases happens at Sungai Buloh, Selangor. This was occurred when a natural gas pipeline was buried adjacent water pipeline, condition for water pipeline is under natural gas pipeline. When a leakage happens at water pipeline, it will be generated vertical water jetting and combine with sand to give a thickness reduction at the outside surface natural gas pipeline. In my study, how much erosion rate for leakage natural gas pipeline with 10 barg pressure water jetting. It is very difficult to imagine how this happens after I got this title.
After discuss with my supervisor, I can captured what I must do to finish this project on time. My progress now is smoothly happens. What I get??Creativity is important element to solve when a problem happens because equipment must be modified if want to run my project.
